KUCHING: Aspiring food delivery riders in Sarawak who had approached Tekun Nasional for its interest-free loan of up to RM10,000 to buy a motorcycle equipped with a delivery box, have been told that there is no such facility, said Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How.

“Numerous Sarawakians have called up Tekun Nasional offices in the state and banks who are participating in Tekun Nasional’s easy access micro credit financing facilities.

“To their disappointment, there is no such interest-free loan of up to maximum of RM10,000 to help aspiring food delivery riders to purchase a motorcycle equipped with a delivery box,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

See said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar should have visited the Tekun Nasional head office at Jalan Matang, before announcing the loan last Saturday.

Wan Junaidi had said at an event here that the loan could be applied at any Tekun Nasional office, and it would be free of interest and can be approved within two or three days.

“However, our visits to the Tekun Nasional offices and corroborating banks today have found that they have no knowledge of the availability of this specific easy access micro credit financing facility in Sarawak,” See said.

Further, See said he was hopeful that Wan Junaidi would ensure that Tekun Nasional would be reformed to cater for the needs of Malaysians of all races, particularly those from Sarawak.

He hoped that Tekun Nasional would provide simple and quick financing facilities for young and needful Sarawakians to kick-start and further expand their businesses, in order to produce and develop entrepreneurs through easy access to micro credit financing.
