KOTA SAMARAHAN: The owners of a convenience store and car workshop here were issued compounds on Tuesday for failing to provide a logbook at their respective premises for customers to write their names and telephone numbers.

Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Sudirman Kram said three individuals at an eatery were also issued compounds for not practising physical distancing while at the premises.

He said RM1,000 compound notices were issued to all the offenders after checks were carried out by the Kota Samarahan district police headquarters (IPD).

“The compounds were issued because the owners of the premises and individuals involved failed to comply with the standard operating procedures of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO),” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the Kota Samarahan IPD has so far issued 132 compounds for offences in accordance with Article 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020.

Sudirman said the Kota Samarahan IPD has also set up a special task force to monitor the compliance of SOP during the RMCO.

He said this task force also involves the Ministry of Health, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS).

“Kota Samarahan IPD will take stern action on anyone in the community who still refuses to comply with the SOP that has been enforced,” he said.

He added that based on monitoring carried out by Kota Samarahan IPD, among the common offences included no physical distancing and business premises failing to provide thermometers or thermo guns, as well as log books for customers.

Apart from that, he said inspections at business premises also found that customers did not provide accurate details such as full name, telephone numbers, and temperature reading in the provided information book.
